GENARO MELENDEZ, JR., 74, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2008. He was a lifelong resident of El Paso and was a member of the Catholic Church. Mr. Melendez served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a Detention Officer with the U.S. Border Patrol after 32 years of service. Mr. Melendez is survived by his wife Jovita L. Melendez. Sons: Genaro Melendez III, Robert Thadius Melendez, Gilbert Jude Melendez, Frederick Paul Melendez, and Ruben Chris Melendez. Daughters: Rebecca Rodriguez, Mary Alice Melendez, Rose Anne Carrasco, and Lily Carmel Melendez. 15 Grandchildren. Brothers: Juan Melendez and Ramon Melendez. Sister: Paz Melendez. Vigil Service will be Monday at 7 p.m. at St. Raphael Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Raphael Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
