Santiago Cortez
Santiago Cortez, born July 25, 1921 in El Paso, TX and raised in Smeltertown, TX was called home by our Heavenly Father on January 9, 2008. He proudly served in the Army during World War II. He was employed by Asarco Refinery for 38 years. Santiago was preceded in death by his daughter Maria A. Cortez; granddaughter Dyanna and wife Refugio "Cuca" Cortez. He is survived by his daughters; Rosa Cortez, Mercy (Ben) Muniz, sons; Santiago Cortez, Mike (Terry) Cortez, Vic Cortez, Tommy (Irma) Cortez, Chuy Cortez; grandchildren; Veronica, Lorraine, Peter, Ben, Jessica, Vincent, Angelica; great grandchildren; David. Other survivors include his sister; Maria Cortez, and numerous family members. We love him dearly and will miss him the rest of our lives until we all meet again at the banquet of Heaven. Visitation will be Sunday, January 13, 2008 from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home Carolina. Vigil Service will be Sunday at 7 p.m. at Hillcrest Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Monday, January 14, 2008 at 8:30 a.m. at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church. Burial will be at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with military honors.
