Salvador "Chava" Salas, 74, of El Paso passed away at home on October 19, 2008 surrounded by family and friends. He was loved by everyone. His 3 passions in life were spending time with family and friends, going to Sunland Park racetrack and volunteering at Mount Cristo Rey. He was a Eucharistic Minister at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. He retired after 32 years of service in the U.S. Postal Service, and served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1963. Salvador is preceded in death by his daughter Sylvia Salas, his mother Herlinda Salas, father Ramon Salas, brother Ramon Salas and sister Carmen Rivas. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Socorro M. Salas, sons, Danny Salas and wife Johann, Ruben Salas and wife Patsy, daughter Irene Salas Rangel and husband, Joel, brothers, Fernando Salas and wife Beatriz, Manuel Salas and wife Mari, sisters Enriqueta Salas and Herlinda "Tane" Salas, grandchildren, Bryan, Jeremy, Monica, Gabriella, Isabella, and Lexee, step grandchildren, C.J., Jacquee, Francquee and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday, October 23, 2008 from 4-9 pm, with rosary at 7 pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home West. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 24, 2008 at 11:30 am at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 1551 Belvidere. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Mount Cristo Rey Restoration Committee, P.O. Box 1003 Sunland Park, NM 88063. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Santa Teresa, NM. 5054 Doniphan Dr. 587-0202

Burial: Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery. Survived by wife Socorro M. Salas, sons Ruben & Daniel Salas, daughter Irene Rangel, brother Fernando Salas, sisters Enriqueta & Herlinda Salas.
