PORRAS JOSE M. PORRAS
passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the age of 90. He was a
lifelong resident of El Paso, TX. Jose Porras was an Army
Veteran and a World
War II Veteran during the Invasion of Normandy. He was a Repairman for
Southwestern Portland Cement Company for 35 years. Jose Porras had many hobbies
such as: gardening, singing, playing the harmonica and loved to watch tennis
and boxing. He was also active in church serving as an usher at St. Patrick
Cathedral and was a life time member of VFW
Post 9173 which he was one the original founding members. He was preceded in
death by his parents Gregoria and Felipe Porras, his loving wife Consuelo
Porras, brothers Theo, Manuel and sisters Guadalupe, Dolores and Anna. Jose
Porras is survived by his daughters Irene Rios and husband Tony, Gloria Porras,
son Joe Porras and wife Myrna, son Art Porras and wife Aurora, Gloria Moore,
Stephen Martinez, sister Andrea Martinez, brother Gilberto Porras, several
nieces and nephews, 8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Visitation will
be held on Sunday, September 25, 2011 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM, with a Rosary at
7:00PM at Martin Funeral Home West. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday,
September 26, 2011 at 9:00AM at St. Patrick Cathedral, 1118. N. Mesa.
Pallbearers will be: Tony Rios Jr., Matthew Porras, Sonny Gonzalez, Ricardo
Gonzalez, Alfredo Palacio and Mario Gonzalez. Honorary Pallbearers will be:
Michael J. Porras and Kyle Porras. Interment will follow at Ft. Bliss National
Cemetery with military honors. Services entrusted to Martin Funeral Home West,
