Below is an email that I received via the website that has Mr. Victor De Anda expressing interest in starting a project that involves the making a documenatary on the town and the people of Smeltertown. Now might be that chance for those of us that have given this idea thought but never acted on it. I would be happy to keep a list of those of you that might want to be contacted about the project and the time frames involved.

Hi Miguel,
My name is Victor De Anda, Jr. I grew up hearing stories about Smeltertown from my father, "Mundy" and my uncle Ismael Jr. "Maley," and my aunts Olivina and Delia, not to mention my grandfather Ismael. I ran across your site and thought it was a great idea to keep the memories alive.
My father passed away from cancer in 2006. He loved playing golf, and so with the help of family and friends, I organized the 2006 Vic De Anda Classic, a charity golf tournament benefiting the American Cancer Society. This year is our third year, here is our website: www.vicdeandaclassic.com.
Since my father's passing, I started thinking of making a documentary about Smeltertown. I am experienced in all aspects of filmmaking, from writing to directing to editing. I am putting out the word to see if anyone is interested in telling their Smeltertown stories on camera. Ultimately, the documentary would cover the unique history of Smeltertown, as told by the people who lived there. So I am looking for archival material as well, photos, newspaper clippings, anything. I think my grandfather Ismael kept a lot of documents as well, I just need to go through his materials.
Is this something you might be interested in? If you could put out the word as well, I would appreciate it. I will need all the help I can get.
You can reach me by email or my cell below.
Best,
Victor De Anda
