Dear friends,
It is with great sadness I must report my tia, Maria Gonzalez Palacio, died
overnight in her Atlantic Avenue home. About an hour ago, my mother phoned me
to say Maria's daughter, Marta, found Maria in her bed this morning. Evidently,
she had not stirred, as usually she was up by 5:00 am, having her coffee and morning
smoke. As far as I know, she had not been seriously ill.
Maria was the daughter of the late Marciano, Sr. and Julia Macias Gonzalez of
Smeltertown, Texas. Her surviving siblings are Carolina Gonzalez Jackson (my
mom), Roberto (Beto), and Ricardo (Richy). She was married to the late Carlos
Palacio, Sr., and the mother of Carlos, Jr. (Pelon); Alicia (who passed away in
the late 70's); Fernando (Cocono); Alfredo (Muchy); and Marta (Martina), and
many grandchildren..
Arrangements are pending, but I will be sure to let you know as soon as they
become known.
Also, if you know of others who should receive this news, please pass this on

Our
beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister. Maria G.
Palacio born May 29, 1931 in Smeltertown passed away peacefully on August 13,
2008. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. Her love for her children,
nephews, nieces, brothers and sisters will always be with us. She is preceded
in death by her husband Carlos S. Palacio, daughter Alicia Palacio, parents
Marciano and Julia Gonzalez. She is survived by her daughter Marta Bombach,
sons Carlos Jr., Fernando and Alfredo Palacio. Sister Carolina Jackson,
brothers, Roberto and Ricardo Gonzalez. Visitation will be held on Friday,
August 15, 2008 from 2:00p.m. -9 p.m. with a vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Hillcrest
Funeral Home-Doniphan. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 9:00
a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Alfredo Palacio, Carlos
Palacio Jr., Fernando Palacio, Ricardo Gonzalez, Roberto Gonzalez and Mario
Gonzalez.Interment will follow in Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery, Santa
